Hello, Bob Jones family. My name is Tom Runnion, and I am the new Athletic Director for Bob Jones High School. I am from Huntsville, AL and graduated from Grissom High School in 1994. While at Grissom, I played basketball, was in the marching band, and was very active in my church youth group. I then attended Birmingham-Southern College where I played basketball and earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Biology.
After graduating from Birmingham-Southern, I was a biology teacher and assistant basketball coach at Albertville High School. I then accepted a position at Huntsville High School as the head boys’ basketball coach and biology teacher. After nine years at Huntsville High, I taught and coached at Sparkman High School for three years. In 2012, I moved to Bob Jones High School as an assistant boys’ basketball coach and marine biology teacher. Having completed my master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama, I am now serving as assistant principal and athletic director.
My wife, Paige, is a sixth grade math teacher at Horizon Elementary School. We have one daughter, Parker, who is an eighth grader at Discovery Middle School. Our family enjoys traveling, going to amusement parks, scuba diving, and watching college sports. I am looking forward to supporting our student-athletes and coaches this year as we grow together on and off the fields, courts, pools, courses, alleys, mats, and tracks of competition. GO PATRIOTS!
My wife, Jana, serves as an RN at the Heart Center in Huntsville, AL. We have one son, Owen, who was born in July of 2013. I enjoy traveling to new places, competing in any activity, exercise and fitness, watching college football, and fishing. I look forward to watching our student-athletes and coaches grow and compete not only on the field but in the classroom this year.
