7A #8 Mountain Brook (11-1) 4, 7A #1 Bob Jones (12-3) 2: Bob Jones fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 4-2 loss to Mountain Brook on Friday. Mountain Brook scored on a groundout by Kelly and a single by Payne in the first inning.
Mountain Brook opened up scoring in the first inning. White was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.
Nick Brown took the loss for Bob Jones as he allowed two runs on zero hits. Bob Jones launched one home run on the day. Slate Alford had a long ball in the fifth inning. Caden Rose went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Patriots in hits.
7A #4 Hewitt-Trussville (10-4) 10, 7A #1 Bob Jones (12-4) 6: Saturday’s game against Hewitt-Trussville was a heartbreaker for Bob Jones, as they lost the lead late in a 10-6 defeat. The game was tied at two with Hewitt-Trussville batting in the top of the seventh when an error scored two runs for Hewitt-Trussville.
Bob Jones collected four hits and Hewitt-Trussville had ten in the high-scoring affair. John Herron took the loss for Bob Jones as he lasted one and one-third innings, allowing five hits and seven runs. Stuart Edge started the game and allowed three hits and one run over four innings.
Cam Hill went for the long ball in the seventh inning with a grand slam to cut the Husky lead to 10-6. Mitchell Daly, Caden Rose, Dylan Ray, and Hill all had one hit for the Pats.
