Bob Jones advanced to the semifinals of the Perfect Game High School Showdown with a 10-0 victory over Benedictine Military. The Patriots will play in the semifinals on Friday at 6:00 at the Hoover Met Complex.
7A #1 Bob Jones (11-2) 10, 3A #5 Benedictine Military, GA (7-4) 0: Dylan Ray was brilliant on the pitcher’s mound on Thursday, as he threw a no-hitter to lead Bob Jones past Benedictine 10-0. Bob Jones opened up scoring in the first inning when Ray singled up the middle to score a run. Bob Jones extended the lead in the fifth inning with four runs for a 5-0 lead off Vanderbilt commit Carter Holton. The big inning was led by a home run by Slate Alford, by Brycen Hammonds, and a double by Caden Rose.
Ray pitched Bob Jones to victory as he lasted five innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out six en route to a no-hitter! Holton took the loss for Benedictine. He lasted four innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out eight. Bob Jones hit one home run on the day. Alford had a dinger in the fifth inning. The Patriots saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Ray and Rose managed multiple hits for Bob Jones with a triple and single by Ray and single and double for Rose. Mitchell Daly and Ryan Crawford added doubles.
