Bob Jones defeated Denham Springs 11-1 on Thursday thanks to six runs in the fifth inning. Bob Jones’ big bats in the inning were led by walks by JW Hopkins, Slate Alford, Max Soliz JR, and Cam Hill and a double by Caden Rose.
Denham Springs fired up the offense in the first inning scoring 1 run on 3 errors and a hit.
In the bottom of the first inning, Bob Jones Patriots Varsity tied things up at one when Hill hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring one run. Bob Jones pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Soliz JR drew a walk, scoring one run, Hill drew a walk, scoring one run, and Dylan Ray drew a walk, scoring one run. Bob Jones Patriots Varsity notched six runs in the fifth inning. Bob Jones’ offense in the inning came from walks by Hopkins, Alford, Soliz JR, and Hill and a double by Rose.
Thomas Ballard led the Patriots to victory on the hill. He allowed one hit and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Rose went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Bob Jones in hits.
7A #1 Bob Jones (10-2) 13, Grissom (3-6) 0:
Bob Jones defeated Grissom 13-0 on Wednesday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Bob Jones opened up scoring in the first inning as an error scored two runs. Bob Jones tallied six runs in the second inning. Patriot batters contributing to the big inning included Cam Hill, Dylan Ray, Brett Brosnan, and Ryan West, who all drove in runs.
Logan Hittle pitched Bob Jones to victory to pick up his first win of the season.. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out two. Julian Cyree and Luttrell entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Bob Jones launched two home runs on the day. Ray went deep in the second inning. Brycen Hammonds put one out in the third inning. Bob Jones collected 13 hits as West and Hammonds each racked up multiple hits.
