Russellville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before the Patriots would score twelve unanswered runs for a 12-2 mercy rule victory in six innings. Bob Jones grabbed an early lead in the bottom of the first on its way to a 12-2 victory over Russellville on Tuesday. The Patriots scored seven runs on a single by Caden Rose, single by Cam Hill, walk by Mitchell Daly, walk by Dylan Ray, a walk by Slate Alford, a HBP by John Michael Riley, a 3-run triple by Colten Carver, and a walk by Stuart Edge in the first inning.
Luke Tralongo (2-0) led the Patriots to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He lasted four innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking one. Thomas Ballard threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen with no hits allowed with three strikeouts.
Bob Jones finished with ten hits in the game. Hill (triple and single), Ray (2 singles), and Rose (2 singles) all collected multiple hit. Carver finished with a triple while Tanner Troutt, Brett Brosnan, and Michael Strickland all added singles. Carver led the team with 3 RBI and Ray had 2 RBI. Brosnan, Alford, and Riley all knocked in runs as well.
Patriots (11-3) return to play on Friday with a doubleheader at Athens at 4:30 and 7:00.
