Bob Jones pounded out 12 hits in a 9-4 victory over Ardmore at home. The Patriots jumped out to an early 5-0 lead with 4 runs in the 1st and 1 in the second before Ardmore made it interesting with four runs in the third inning to make the score 5-4. It would be as close as Ardmore would get though as the Pats added one run in the bottom of the third and three in the 6th for a final score of 9-4.
The Patriots scored four runs in the 1st on five hits with two doubles. Caden Rose singled and stole 2nd to leadoff the game. Cam Hill followed with a single to put runners on the corner. Mitchell Daly followed with a RBI single to center field to score Rose. Dylan Ray then doubled down the right field line to score Hill. Daly scored on a wild pitch before John Michael Riley then doubled to score Ray.
The Pats added a run in the 2nd inning after Brett Brosnan doubled to lead off the inning and Tanner Troutt scored on a passed ball while pinch running. A bases loaded walk to Rose scored Slate Alford who singled to lead off the third inning. The Patriots finished up scoring with three runs in the bottom of the 6th highlighted by a 2-run home run by Daly. Colten Carver singled to score Riley for the final run of the game.
Stuart Edge (1-0) got the win for Bob Jones as he allowed four hits and two earned runs over four innings, while striking out five. Sam Maynard threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Maynard recorded the last nine outs to earn his first save of the year.
Daly, Hill, Riley, and Brosnan all finished with 2 hits each with doubles for Hill, Riley and Brosnan and a homer for Daly. Ray finished with a double while Rose, Alford, and Carver all singled.
The Patriots return to action on Tuesday versus Russellville at home at 4:30.
