Even though Bob Jones collected nine hits to Johns Creek’s six, they still fell 6-3 on Saturday. Johns Creek scored in the 1st inning by Bob Jones took an early lead in the second inning with a double by Mitchell Daly that scored John Michael Riley who reached with a single. Michael Strickland drove in Daly when he doubled down the left field line for a 2-1 lead. The Patriots added another run in the top of the 3rd after a leadoff double by Caden Rose who scored on a single by Slate Alford.
Johns Creek took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead.
Nick Brown took the loss for the Patriots. He surrendered six runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Sam Maynard pitched 2 and 1/3 innings with no runs on no hits with 1 strikeouts.
Bob Jones racked up nine hits in the game with Daly (2 doubles) and Riley (double and single) pitching in 2 hits a piece. Brett Brosnan, Strickland, and Rose also added doubles while Colten Carver and Alford pitched in singles.
Lassiter, GA (4-5) 2, Bob Jones (5-2) 0:
Bob Jones watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 2-0 loss to Lassiter on Saturday. Lassiter scored two unearned runs by the aide of an error in the 2nd inning for the only runs of the game. The pitching was strong on both sides. Lassiter pitchers struck out nine, while John Michael Riley of Bob Jones sat down four.
One bright spot for Bob Jones Patriots Varsity was a double by Caden Rose in the first inning. John Michael Riley took the tough loss as he lasted six innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four. Colten Carver, Rose, and Cam Hill each collected one hit to give the Pats 3 total hits for the game.
The Patriots (5-2) return to action on Tuesday at home vs Decatur at 4:00.
