Meet Recap

The 2017 Bob Jones golf season season drew to a close on Monday as the Patriots finished in 5th place in the Class 7A Section 4 golf tournament at Huntsville Country Club. Unlike other classifications, in Class 7A only two teams advance to the substate round from each section tournament. Hewitt-Trussville closed out the tournament, played in difficult conditions with wind gusts up to 30 mph, with a team score of 294 that featured a hole in one on the par-3 15th at Huntsville CC by team #1 Noah Dennis. Sparkman HS grabbed the remaining substate spot while Hewitt-Trussville and Bob Jones each claimed the remaining individual spots in substate. Bob Jones senior Austin Chandler will be playing in his third consecutive substate tournament and will try to improve on the 15th place finish he notched at the 2015 AHSAA State Golf Tournament. This year’s State Tournament will be held at the RTJ Grand National golf course in Auburn, AL May 15-16.
